Our Hotel Osterkrug has been welcoming guests from all over the world for generations. Now we are setting off for new shores. Together with my parents and our dedicated team, I, Alexander Hekmat, as the junior manager of the hotel, am leading our traditional hotel into a digital future.

After successfully studying finance in the beautiful city of Hamburg, I was able to gain several years of experience in various companies in the Hamburg area. I lived and worked in Hamburg for 8 years, but have never forgotten where my roots lie. Husum on the North Sea has always been my home harbour.

I grew up traditionally in hotel catering and finally decided to return to my roots as Managing Director of Hotel Osterkrug in Husum in 2024. My input from the know-how in the world of digitalisation and finance, combined with my parents' many years of experience in hotel gastronomy, embodies the essence of our family business Hotel Osterkrug in Husum today. Our vision: to create the interplay of coastal tradition and modern comfort in today's digital world.

The Osterkrug has been in family hands for over 40 years

1980 was the beginning of a breathtaking journey for the Osterkrug in Husum. My parents invested in the hotel year after year to ensure that our guests had a pleasant stay. This motivation remains unbroken to this day, as we get to meet guests and learn new things over pleasant conversations. Today, we are proud to have reached a small digital milestone. Not only with the website, but also with the switch to an automated booking system, which not only helps us, but also our guests, to be more flexible and convenient.

Our aim is to implement modernisation and combine it with digitalisation. It is also important to us to be inspired by new ideas in order to be able to respond to future challenges. But it is also important to us to preserve tradition. This is exactly what characterises our hotel - tradition-conscious and informal.

My father bought this traditional hotel, the Osterkrug, in 1980, when I was still younger and had no idea of the implications of this decision. Wahid had previously completed his training at the venerable Parkhotel and worked there for ten years as a restaurant manager. From day one, he put his heart and soul into this house - a house that soon became more than just a place to work for us. It became a house full of memories, encounters and visions. The best thing is that we can now go on this journey together.

As the central point of contact at reception, Jasmin offers comprehensive advice and support for our guests. Whether it's check-in, check-out or personal recommendations for excursions and activities - Jasmin is always on hand with a smile. Her organisational skills are an essential contribution to the smooth running of our hotel operations. With her experience, she manages reservations and ensures that all processes are efficient and guest-orientated.
